【Goal】We’ll be creating a new map called “Test” (file name will be “test.mps”). Then we’ll draw a shape using the grass chip and save it.
[Note] This tutorial alone does not allow the player to move from map to map.
[1] Make a new map by clicking the “Create New Map” icon
. (located at the far left corner of the window next to the “Save” icon)
[2] The “Create New Map” window should be displayed.
[3] Next to “MapData” is a text box, change the name to “test (.mps)”. (This will be the file name)
Then in the “*Name” field, change it to “Test” (This will be the map’s official name.)
When finished, press “OK“.
*File names should be different from other map files. It’s important to choose a unique name. If you accidentally make a file with the same name, the original data becomes overwritten and disappears. If the current name, such as “test”, isn’t good enough, try changing it a bit like “test2” or “test3”.
[4] A new map has been created!
For now, it’s all black and will look like that in the actual game.
[5] It’s a bit troublesome to have an empty map, so let’s design some land.
Click on the “Layer 1” icon
(looks like the number “1” and is on the right of the “Save” icon)
[6] Select any grass chip (ex: Chip ID 17)
Now you can place grass by clicking anywhere on the empty (black) map.
[7] Once you’ve finished designing, remember to save the map by clicking the “Save” icon
.
This marks the end of the map creation tutorial! Good job~
[Extra] I’ve misplaced a chip!
When you put a chip in the wrong place, don’t panic, it can be fixed.
Simply select the “Blank Chip” (first chip and is completely black). Then click on the areas where you messed up.
This “Blank Chip” is the alternative to an eraser.
*If you want to be able to move players to this map, please refer to this tutorial: Moving the main character to another map.
[Side Note]
Even if you follow the steps above, your new map may not appear in the “Map Selection”
window. To fix this issue, open up the window and click “Update“.
