【Goal】 Copy the data for an unfinished game into a USB memory chip so that it can be edited on other computers.
*This tutorial will proceed under the assumption that you can perform basic tasks like “copying” and “moving” files on your computer. If you don’t know how to do that then please take the time to familiarize yourself with the “right-click” mouse button or the keyboard shortcuts.*
[1] If the Wolf RPG Editor is being used, exit and close the program.
[2] Copy the entire “WOLF_RPG_Editor” folder
Some versions may be labeled differently such as “WRPGE English v2.10D Bundle.”
[3] Plug the USB memory chip (flash drive) into the computer and open up that folder. Paste the entire “WOLF_RPG_Editor” file into the USB folder.
[4] Try to run the WRPGE program you just pasted in order to make sure that it works. If it does, then it should also run normally on any other computer that the USB chip is attached to.
[Side Note]
Even if you run the program from the USB chip, you can still do things like save data or browse files as usual.
If copying the entire WRPGE file takes up too much time and space, you could simply copy only the “edited” or “changed” parts.
- Maps, various databases, common events, and more can be updated by overwriting the “Data” folder; basic game settings can be updated via the “Game.dat” folder; save data can be updated via the “Save” folder.
- You can also move specific files from the data folder to make things easier
- Ex: If you only edited a map event, you only need to copy the “MapData” folder; when copying a single part, it’s a good idea to copy the “BasicData” folder all together. (Basic Data refers to various important data such as databases, map tree structures, common events, etc.)
